Definitions
Awards – Kansai Nerolac Style Icon Awards 2007 for Excellence In Architecture & Interior Design.
Kansai Nerolac – the main sponsors of the Awards
Hanmer & Partners Communications Pvt. Ltd. - The Company or Awards Management

E&Y – Ernst and Young Private Limited, official tabulators to the Awards.
Categories – Architecture & Interior Design with 3 sub categories in each for Students
Awards management – Personnel from Hanmer & Partners Communications Pvt.Ltd or appointed / engaged by Nerolac, who are responsible for the conduct of the Awards.
Participant – Any individual who sends an application to participate in the Awards .
Finalist – Student participants short listed by the Jury .
Jury – Group of persons selected to assign scores to the participants and the finalists .
Rules – These rules and regulations governing the Awards.
Plagiarism – The practice of claiming, or implying, original authorship or incorporating material from someone else's written or creative work, in whole or in part, into one's own without adequate acknowledgement

Efforts will be made to follow the above timelines. However, in the event of circumstances beyond the control of Awards Management, these timelines may need to be altered
Awards Management and its sub-contractors cannot and shall not be held accountable / liable for any disruptions / stoppages / interruptions or cancellation of the Awards or its ceremony on account of any factors beyond its control.
Awards Management reserves the right to withdraw or amend the terms of the Awards at any time, with retrospective effect, and does not take the responsibility for any loss or damage that any Participant / Organization / Finalist may suffer as a result of the Awards being withdrawn or its terms amended
 
Participation
All students enrolled in an architectural or design school / college / institute recognized by the local relevant government body on or before
Jan 2007 are permitted to participate in the Awards.
Students must be residents of India and must be between 18 and 40 years of age as on August 31, 2007
Online registration through www.nerolac.com is mandatory.
Participants must create a virtual 3-D model design using the specifications provided on registration, burn it on a CD and send the CD along with copies of the following documents:
Proof of age - Driver’s License / Birth Certificate / Passport  
Proof of educational status - Authority letter from Educational Institution & 2007-08 ID Card of Educational Institution  
Photo ID – Passport / Driver’s License / Pan card  
Entry submission form completed and signed by the Participant
Submission format:
    1. Interior Design : All entries should be accompanied by the completed line drawing populated on a CD, a brief written project description (max 100 words) , 3D designs (min.2 views) and a print of the online registration.
    2. Architecture : All entries should be accompanied by a 3-D model populated on a CD and a written brief (max 100 words) and a print of the online registration
 
Receipt of Entries
Receipt of entries after the last date of receipt specified may be permitted only at the discretion of Awards management.
Awards management will not be responsible for entries that are lost in transit / received late.
The registration form needs to be completed online on or before September 20, 2007.
Incomplete forms in any manner will disqualify a student from participating in the Awards.
Entries will be accepted in English only.
In cases where more than one entry per participant per category are received, or where more than two entries per participant are received, only two entries in categories will be considered, at the discretion of Awards management.

Incorrect information
Awards management has the right to ask for proof of information provided / audit the information provided in the entry form. If such a request is made and the participant does not agree, the participant could be disqualified from participation at the Awards.
Information received will be treated as confidential and not used for any purpose except for determining the winner of the Awards .
If at any time, any information provided by any participant is found to be incorrect in any manner, then the participant will not be permitted to continue participation in the Awards.
If, after the conclusion of the Award ceremony, any information provided by any participant is found to be incorrect in any manner, the participant will be liable to return the Award and any monetary / non-monetary incentives provided as part of the Award.
Determination of whether information is incorrect or not rests with Awards management.
 
Short-listing of the Entries for each category
Up to 36 participants will be short listed.
The decision of the above short listing is binding and final on all participants.
Finalists will be contacted with further relevant information for the final round.
In the event no entries in a category are found to be worthy of inclusion in the Awards, the category will be cancelled.
 
Determination of winners
Each student finalist will make a presentation of up to 7 minutes to the Jury, followed by a Question & Answer round.
Presentations can only be made by the participant.
The Jury will score the finalists based on the presentation, and question and answer session.
The highest scoring entry in each category will be determined as the winner in that category.
The Jury’s scores on each criterion are subject to the application of weights.
Jury’s decision is final and binding on all nominees.
Finalists understand and agree that mere inclusion in the Awards does not entitle them to a prize or to any other form of consideration .
The jury may decide, in order to maintain the high standards of these Awards, that there could be no winner in a particular category.
 
General
Decision of Awards Management on all matters is final and binding on all nominees and no correspondence will be entertained on the same
All costs related to travel, conveyance, stationery, courier etc. to be borne by the student. In cases where the student is unable to bear Travel costs, the student must visit the financial aid section on the website. The Awards Management may, at its discretion, agree to reimburse student's travel expenses, up to a maximum of Rs.7500 per student.
Finalists and Winners permit free of cost the use of their name and factual information about their participation in the public media (for the build-up to the Awards, during the Awards ceremony and after the Awards ceremony) and do not have any right to any revenues earned through intellectual property rights generated by the Awards, if any.
Designs entered maybe used in media for event related content/promotions.
Hanmer & Partners Communications Pvt. Ltd, E&Y and Kansai Nerolac will not be liable for any claims / disputes made by the participants, finalists or winners in relation to the Awards.
The Company reserves the right to withdraw or amend the terms of the Awards at any time and does not take responsibility for any loss or damage that any person or organization may suffer as a result of participating or attempting to participate in the Awards, the Awards being withdrawn or its terms amended.
The Company cannot and shall not be accountable / liable for any disruptions / stoppages / interruptions or cancellation of the Awards. The Company and its contractors can not be held responsible for matters out of its control and for force majeure reasons.
Additions, deletions and/or modifications to these rules are at the discretion of the Company and the Company may make such additions/deletions and/or modifications, at any time before or after the Awards.
All disputes relating to or arising out of the Awards shall be subject to the laws of India, and shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of competent jurisdiction at Mumbai, India.
The participants, finalists and winners agree that they shall hold harmless the Company and Sponsors, its employees, officers, contractors or other persons and shall defend them against any loss, claim, demands, costs, damages, judgments, expenses or liability arising out of or in connection with any or all claims whether or not groundless, that may be brought against the Company by any third party in connection with participation in or winning the Award.

Participation
All professional having a professional license or working in an architectural / design organization are permitted to participate in the Awards
Professionals must be residents of India must be between 18 and 50 years of age as on August 31, 2007
Online registration through www.nerolac.com is mandatory.
Participants must print registration form and entry submission form send it along with entry
Participants must send a CD containing at least 2 and up to 6 photographs (5” x 7”) of work completed by them in the past 3 years (as on August 31, 2007) and up to a 100-word concept note.
Only one entry per category, subject to a maximum of two categories per participant will be accepted.
Participation in the Awards in any manner will be construed as an acceptance of the rules and regulations.
The Award is not open to Kansai Nerolac, Hanmer & Partners Communications Pvt. Ltd or its group companies, affiliated companies and subsidiaries, sponsors of the Awards, their advertising and market research agency/ies and all others associated with the Award .
Awards management has the right to, at its discretion, accept entries in alternate formats.
 
Receipt of Entries

Submission format:
    1. All entries for Architecture and Interior design should be accompanied with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 digital photographs (5”x7”) on a CD and a brief written description (up to 100 words) and a print of the online registration form and an entry form.
 
Incorrect information

Announcement of Final Round (Jury Meeting)
Finalists will be informed on being short listed and will be communicated the requirements for the Jury Meeting
 
Determination of winners
Each professional finalist will make a presentation of up to 10 minutes to the Jury, followed by a Question & Answer round
Presentations can only be made by the participant.
The Jury will score the finalists based on the presentation, and question & answer session.
The highest scoring entry in each category will be determined as the winner in that category.
For the ‘Most Promising Professional Young Architect or Interior Designer’ Award, the Jury will score the winners in the professional category, and the winner with the highest score will be selected for the Award.
The Jury’s scores on each criterion are subject to the application of weights.
